Here is more proof that regular exercise can extend your life expectancy. If you want to be around for your grandchildren then you better get moving! The study also provides some evidence that if you can fit a good workout routine into your life with an hour a day of vigorous exercise, you will reap the benefits later in life.

Easy Rice Cooker Spanish Rice

I was also asked for my Spanish rice recipe. I don’t have it written down, but it is really easy. First you need to make this home made taco seasoning.

Then in your rice cooker, add the following.

  • 1 cup uncooked brown rice
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (low sodium with juice)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon home made taco seasoning
  • optional add-ins
    • 1 or 2 cups black beans
    • 1/2 cup diced onion
    • 1 tablespoon dried oregano

Make sure there is enough liquid based on the amount of rice and the rice cookers directions. You can add water to make up the difference or leave out some of the canned diced tomato juice. That’s it, turn on your rice cooker and enjoy! You can add 1 or 2 tablespoons of cilantro when done if desired.

I was asked about what rice cooker I use. Below is a link to the one I have. It has done a great job for me over the past couple of years. You can cook a bunch of different items in it, but when it comes to rice, specifically brown rice, it does a fantastic job! The brown rice always comes out perfect and the best part is you can put your ingredients in it before you leave for work in the morning and set it to have the rice ready for when you get home. It also keeps the rice warm for hours, so you can leave it in there and use it when you are ready.
